Sustainable meals at the University of Vienna
In contrast to Germany, there is no legal mandate in Austria to provide food for university members. Nevertheless, the University of Vienna is actively committed to providing ecologically sustainable food. The university makes it easier to opt for a plant-based diet by specifically choosing purely vegan and vegetarian providers for newly leased canteen locations. For example, the canteen at Oskar-Morgenstern-Platz and at UBB is successfully operated by Library Café:
Lia Canteen at the OMP
The Lia Canteen offers exclusively vegan and vegetarian lunch menus in a cozy atmosphere. All dishes are varied and freshly prepared every day. Special highlights are the coffee specialties made from high-quality, fair-trade beans.
There is a selection of home-made snacks, cakes and crispy cookies to satisfy your hunger in between meals - the perfect reward for a snack.

The bistro also focuses on freshness and variety: the dishes are prepared using high-quality ingredients and offer an environmentally friendly alternative. Snacks and drinks round off the offer and make the bistro a popular meeting place for students and staff.
