Karla Neugebauer is Professor in the Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry and of Cell Biology at Yale School of Medicine at Yale University, New Haven, CT, USA. She is also the Director of the Yale Center for RNA Science and Biomedicine since 2018 and is recognized internationally for her work in RNA Biology.

She is passionate about the topic of climate change, believing that everyone has something to contribute to meet its challenges. Her lab has published a paper in BBA Advances (2023) on "Five questions on how biochemistry can combat climate change". And more recently, in the World View section of Nature Cell Biology, Karla Neugebauer discusses her viewpoint on the role of cell biology in climate change.  Not only that, but she is also teaching sustainability for students of Cell Biology to try to find solutions viewed through the lens of biochemistry.
